That's right, the Eastern fringe is going to have its very first painting contest ever!!

But wait, McCragge, everyone has painting contests, what makes the Eastern Fringes painting contest any different from everyone elses?

Well I am glad you asked!!

As I am sure all of you have noticed, the Eastern Fringe is packed full with google ads and other advertisements. Well, you guys have clicked on them enough for us to finally make a tidy sum. And with that sum, the Eastern Fringe has purchased PRIZES!!

That's right, the Eastern Fringe will be giving back to the members with actual real life PRIZES!!!

So, what is the prize you ask? The winner of the first (oh yes, there are going to be lots more) painting contest of Eastern Fringe will win this:

Kal Jericho and Scabbs!! (the miniatures are supplied unpainted)

So, how does this work, and how do you win.

+_+_+_+_+_+_+

The Rules

* Anyone can enter as many times as they like.

* The theme is Necromunda Gang Leader

* The base is to be of normal size, not monster bases

* Conversions are not only allowed but encouraged.

* The Deadline for all submissions will be July 26th 2008

How to Submit

A special thread will be created to post pics of your Gang Leader painting contest miniature. Any other post in that thread that isn't a pic of your contest entry will be deleted.

This current thread is the appropriate thread to ask questions and make comments.

On July 27th, the pics thread will be locked and a poll will be created for everyone to vote for 7 days. At the end of seven days, the miniature with the highest votes wins a cool Eastern Fringe painting contest medal and the Kal Jericho - Scabbs miniatures.

Good luck everyone, and feel free to ask questions here.

woo-hoo!
looks like I've found the motivation to finish one of my gang leaders! Very Happy
I just have one question: are only original gw necromunda gang leaders models allowed (I mean models of gang leaders) or maybe figures from other manufacturers can participate too?
I saw thread somewhere here about models fitting necromunda world from em4 for example Rolling Eyes

That is a good question.

For this contest, all models have to be from the Games Workshop line. Any year any game of theirs. If you wanted to use a LOTR miniature and convert it into a Gang Leader that will be fine.

But fear not...there will be another contest coming soon that will involve more miniature manufacturer options. Wink

that was just technical question:
I have more models than I can paint (unfortunatelly) so there'll be no problem with finding a candidate for gang leader Smile

yeah, that's what I've all the years waited... a painting contest. Well done, McCragge! Now I just have to decide, which modell I'm going to enter. Smile Cool

May I suggest to limit the number of entries per person down to two diffrent minis, each mini with two images? That's to keep the quality of the entries up and to ensure nobodyy will be nominated by sheer quantity.

You kids and your Necromunda Razz

Anyhow, I might actually be motivated to set up my painting station that's been packed away for 1 year+ ... not for the contest, as I don't rrrrreeeeeaaaaalllly have any interest in having a Necromunda gang, but to actually start painting again Smile

Good luck, entrants!

Is this an officially sponsored GW contest? If not, then why the restriction on GW miniatures?

Because I figured for our first contest we would keep it simple and since the theme is Necromunda Gang Leader, (which is part of the GW universe) we should keep all models in that range as well.)

However, if you want to do conversions that use other model parts, like head/arm/weapon swaps, I think that is acceptable, just as long as the main figure is a GW one.

Fair enough. With the lack of support from Games Workshop for Necromunda, I don't go out of my way to buy official models. Thanks for answering my question!

I am glad to see the overwhelming enthusiasm for the painting contest.

I can't wait to start seeing some entries.

There is, July 26th 2008

But if you don't make this one, don't worry there will be others.
