Lacking the focus/drive/whatever to paint on my own, I'm going to turn over my decision-making to you! Decide what I'll start working on by voting...believe me, your vote WILL count! Laughing Just keep in mind that I'm not a world-class painter like some of the very talented members here!

Though I've clearly added these categories above, I'm going to define/set parameters/let you know exactly WHAT you're voting on below:

Imperial Guard: The originals! I've had the majority of the guys for over a year and only gave them a hint of paint so that they'd be tabletop legal (though that didn't stop my opponents from fielding unpainted armies!). Though I'd thought of using all black for my paint scheme for them ("Obsidian Order" was to be their moniker), I've decided that I need to go in a new direction with them. Given my infatuation for the Inquisition, I figure that they'll be possibly done up as Cadian Internal Guard, with an emphasis on urban warfare.

The Inquisition: This would obviously encompass Inquisitors and their retinues, but also models like the Sisters of Battle or Grey Knights. I already have a scheme in mind for the Knights (standard one), but the Sisters I have yet to land somewhere with. With the Inquisitors I could either paint up the models I have, convert some, or paint up ones based off of an army list entry.

Various 40K models: If you just want to see me mess around with various other models I have (but should probably trade/auction off...lol) that aren't covered above, this is what you'd want to vote on. I have some Marines lying around, as well as some Chaos models. I think I somehow have nearly 1000 points of Tau still in bitz form (12 fire warriors, 10 kroot, battlesuit commander, and drones).

Dark Heresy: This would be a multi-step process. I'm not exactly content to just use GW minis for this, partly due to a lack of variety in their line, partly due to my disappointment with their treatment of Dark Heresy and their bitz service. Even if this isn't the chosen option I'll still update my Dark Heresy thread with ideas. Anyway, I'd first need to choose models for characters I've drawn up, convert them as needed, then paint them.

Necromunda: For Necromunda I have bunches of Goliath and Escher gangers. I have enough for a full Pit Slave gang (official models, no less!) as well, with five Arbites, 7 or 8 Cawdor, and 5 or 6 Redemptionists (4 of which are the same Deacon w/flamer model, though). I also have a Scum and 2 or 3 Bounty Hunters as well.

Mordheim: This would certainly be the fastest option! I have enough models to make a small Witch Hunters warband (a random bunch won in an eBay lot) that I could always paint up, though I'll never actually play Mordheim. Just for kicks I'll tack on any random WFB models I have as well to this category.

Non-GW minis: I have a lot of Iron Kingdoms minis still in blisters (bulk eBay auction) that I considered using for conversions or selling; though that could still be the case, I could always still just paint them up anyway! I also have some minis (from Reaper, I think) that are more D&D "scale" (aka the nice ones they made before D&D Minis came out).

Conversions!: Choose this option if you just want to see me go "nutz" with my bitz boxes! There's no telling what I'd be able to come up with, though it'd obviously be discussed in this thread! Plus, keep in mind that I have no skill whatsoever with Green Stuff; I have clay to mold onto bases, but cannot do any real small or detailed work with the stuff.

I'm going to keep this poll open for a week for the inital vote; once I finish projects I'll take an informal vote/request method. After you vote, feel free to leave additional feedback (ex: vote Necro and say which gang you'd like to see, vote DH and pick a Career Path for me to start with, etc).

EDIT: In the event of a tie I will base the winner off of the replies people have left in favor of their "candidate." So if Option 1 has 5 votes and 3 replies and Option 2 has 5 votes and 1 reply, Option 1 will be the default winner.

I voted conversions because they are just plain interesting. Plus you never know when it'll be something worth stealing Wink

Of course, I come here for the Necro, so that's high on the list.

Mordheim would be great too because I've taken alot of minis from there for Necro. I'm especially fond of the Zealot with puppet. He'll be a Wyrd follower of Banjo the Puppet god. Razz

Conversions and Dark Heresy!

You'll be doing a few for the Dark Heresy stuff anyway, so why not combine them. Besides, it'd be interesting to see your ideas develop from the other thread of possible miniatures to use (which I love, btw) to this one, where we'd see exactky what you'd chosen and how you build them up.

Of course, this could eventually lead into an Inquisition army, as you'll have the retinues by then.

Quite true. The only reason I left them as different options is so that I could do conversion that weren't explicitly for Dark Heresy. I have 16 characters drawn up for the game to be used as NPCs/temporary mentors to a new PC group (2 of each Career Path, each of which is at various stages); that's what I'd work on solely if Dark Heresy turned out to be the winner.

Right now, though, Necro and conversions are in a dead heat for first place, though...so we'll see how the voting turns out.

conversions are the most entertaining to see, so my vote is to that category, even if Necro came close second... Smile

And so far they have a 3-vote lead! I was a bit surprised that there wasn't more voting on the weekend, but this entire section of the forum has been so busy that I guess some don't have the attention span to digest it all! Razz

@Gen Steiner: Even though my Guard always sucked hard at winning (they'd come close to beating Orks, but Marines and Necrons always slaughtered them), they still have a special place in my heart. Plus their plastics are great places to start for any human conversions!

If I ever get around to actually doing my Ash Wastes gang, I totally just found my Long Rifle gangers:

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/tsnipers.htm

Expensive, of course, since they're from Forge World. But it would beat trying to go with my original plan of finding a proper model to convert over. I have a Vossie sniper rifle that I planned on grafting onto a Tallarn missile launcher model, but I can't seem to find any cheap enough (plus I want two, one to actually have a missile launcher!) on eBay, and I refuse to pay $15/each on GW's site. It'd be cheaper to buy these guys (http://store.us.games-workshop.com/storefront/store.us?do=List_Models&code=306232&orignav=301304&ParentID=258072&GameNav=10) but that still only leaves me with one launcher dude.

This weekend I'll have to start a new thread in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum and hope that people not only have what I'm looking for, but are willing to part with it (for a reasonable trade or price, of course)! Laughing

The FW Tallarn stuff is so, so beautiful. I'd not seen those snipers before, though, they're excellent.

Oh for some Mumakil, too!

It looks like conversions took the win! Good thing I'd been bidding on various bitz auctions on eBay in preparation for this!

Oddly enough, though, this comes at a most inopportune time for a couple of reasons. First, GW mistakenly charged me for an item instead of my sister (it's a birthday gift...for me!), which put me into overdraft; they said that they'll fix it, but I'll be quite livid if they don't compensate me for that overdraft fee. It'll pretty much put me off of GW products altogether, which may mean that I'll completely purge myself of GW stuff and pick up something else like Warmachine or something; I'm THAT sick of the way the US Online Store handles things, not to mention constantly causing errors! But at least if I end up getting rid of things the online community would benefit...

But the second, more immediate, and happier reason is that my best friend unexpectedly popped into town! He's in med school overseas and only gets to come back to the States for a month, and usually isn't able to come back for several more after that. So while he's in town I'll probably try to spend as much time hanging out with him as possible.

So, in my absence/lack of working on projects, please let me know what kinds of conversions you'd like to see (I'll keep checking the Fringe every day)! Some of you have already weighed in on this matter, but not everyone who voted for conversions! To let you have an idea of what's in my bitz boxes I'll try to describe them...and tomorrow I shall try to have overhead shots of the boxes!

-1 box of Imperial weaponry, both Guard and Marine, with my leftovers from my Goliath box
-1 box of various Imperial parts (mainly Guard), including body parts, vehicle parts, etc
-1 box of various Imperial parts (non-Guard), including body parts, vehicle parts, etc
-1 box of Tau bitz, including enough to make 12 Fire Warriors, 10 Kroot, 1 Battlesuit Commander (with parts to make it Farsight), an Etheral (special character from first Tau codex), some drones, and a single stealthsuit.
-1 box of everything else 40K...which is everything but Necrons (a single back, actually) and Tyranids (most of some unidentified creature that I'm sure is a 'Nid)...I have a bunch of DE Warriors from the 3rd edition box set, but really nothing else in the way of whole models (that I know of).
-1 box of WFB or otherwise unknown bitz

Also, I do have a couple of boxes with various models that could be the foundation of a conversion, like different Chaos (WFB and 40K) models, Abbadon, an extra Yarrick, etc. Plus I still have those unopened Iron Kingdoms blisters as well. Anyway, just let me know what kinds of conversions you're eager to see me try...

EDIT: Just got another box from eBay in the mail today. Old metal stormtrooper sarge, Van Saar with autogun/laspistol, Enforcer with 'nade launcher, and a Digga Shaman from GorkaMorka. Lots of goodies! Smile

I finally have some pictures for you guys! The bitz boxes shall be below (though I'm not sure how large the pics will be...turn back if you can't handle it!), along with some CoD strategems (which could be large loot counters too, I guess) and booby traps. I can't really take too much credit on the traps, though, since they were taken straight out of the 40K rulebook. And I admit to a bit of cheating, since these conversions were done back when I still played 40K MONTHS ago.

Anyway, here they are:

The WFB/unknown box. I still have yet to figure out what those large metal plates are. I imagine that they go to a vehicle, I'm just not sure which one...

The "Misc. 40K" box. The columns (in order from left to right) are Misc., Misc (definite Tyranid in the top, though), Orks, Eldar/Dark Eldar, Chaos, Chaos.

The IG box. I actually was able to find that I have a bunch of legs, just not nearly enough torsos to finish making whole bodies. I've been ordering bitz from sellers on eBay, though, so maybe that'll change soon.

The Space Marine/non-IG Imperial box.

The Tau/Kroot box.

The Weapons box (or cache as I like to call it). This isn't including the sandwich size back of 2nd edition SM weapons I have sitting on the shelf behind me.

The Fuel Dump. Not too much different from the example in the book (much simpler than theirs, actually).

The Booby Traps. It's an IG lascannon power supply hooked up to a Cadian flamethrower backpack (as if it wasn't that obvious).

Another view. From this point on I totally lost whatever bit of luck I had with the camera, so be prepared for the bluriness...

The IG Weapon Depot.

The Marine Weapon Depot. Couldn't tell which shot sucked the least so I posted them all instead.

Now that I think about it, using capital letters makes it sound like I made two weapon store chains. Forget Home Depot! Shop Imperial Guard and Marine Weapon Depot! Laughing

Not much of an update here. Bought one of each of GW's Techpriests to go ahead and lay down a sort of foundation for my Dark Heresy characters.

And I won this dude on eBay:

I think I may have to redo his base, but he's otherwise a very characterful, um, character.

A question, though: without resorting to hacking up a Coteaz figure or using terminator thunder hammers, does anyone know of a way to create hammers (thunder or otherwise) for Inquisition models? I've been toying with the idea of doing up a couple of inquisitors with thunder hammers, plus a couple of my Cleric acolytes for Dark Heresy, and wasn't sure how to go about doing it without doing the aforementioned hacking. I'm pretty sure that I could easily order hammer bitz from eBay or bitz stores from the terminator set; I'm just more interested in doing something a bit more creative, that's all.

Also, seeing as how I have a spare daemon weapon that I can't find a model for, I may be slapping together a Radical daemonhunter inquistor to wield it (and give me a fluffy excuse for including daemonhosts...since I have 4 or 5 of them just lying around).

Power/Thunder Hammers: Take one of those Power Axes and add bits of cut-up Empire/Chaos hammers instead of the axe blade.

Gives you a military hammer with power generator widgets. I've done it a couple of times on some older models.
