New from Forge World. These guys have a lot of character, especially considering they are wearing gas masks!

I love the commander model.

Totally agree Truckler.
The commanders pose is very good, especially the way he's hold his sheathed sword and the crested helmet. I also like the variant pattern of the lasgun on the trooper for the Death Korps. It seems to be a very streamlined and stripped down design.
I like them. _________________ Now Lads, whatever comes through that door, we can take them. Are we Ready? Lads? Lads.... |

| nice models, the sculpting on the commander's coat is exquisite, it looks like real fabric (or leather), and i really like the standard too. |

I agree with what both of you have said. But nobody mentioned the way cool vox caster. That thing is amazing, I think its the best vox caster on any guardsman.

I don't think that standard bearer walks around with that thing deployed very often. Its certainly stowed away until they are ready to mount some counter attack or suicidal rush toward enemy lines.
Remember the much of the life of a trench fighter is spent waiting, taking cover from enemy artillery bombardments, and fighting off trench foot. Only once in a great while do they leave the safety of the trench led by bugle and banner.

I suspect that commander spends his time supping tea in a white tent located several hundred miles from the main battle front. He's obviously just popped out to have a quick look at the battlefield from afar.
Have to say though, if I did play WH40K (I prefer more complex skirmish games with development) I'd happily fork out stupid money for an all Death Korps army. _________________ Impact! Miniatures |

but don't look as nice, and don't have as extensive a range.
For anyone not familiar with FW marketing strategy: their main market for these ranges (ie the complete guard ranges like the death korps, not just add-ons or new vehicles for the GW armies) is people with more money than sense, and can afford to pay well over the odds for something that looks a bit nicer. |
