Urban Mammoth the company that makes Metropolis (along with Urban War and Void). Has released a new batch of miniatures. A few of them do look rather familiar, I think that some of them have just been renamed/re-issued.

The miniature pictured above is absolutely cool by me.

Take a look at all the rest for yourselves:

I need to remember about these minis when we go on to play Ash Wastes

I had a chance to look at some of the Urban War/Metropolis stuff while I was working at a convention a couple of weekends ago. I was rather impressed, in particular I like the 30mm bases. As a consequence my Enforcers and Spyrers are now mounted on 30mm bases - plenty more room for scenic stuff on those.

Not so keen on some of the female sculpts - the fan carrying Lotus is great, but the Syntha women are just impractical fan service to my eye. But I do like the Koralon a lot.

And this thing just rocks

Still, there's no hope of getting people to play it here, independent minis outside of Flames of War are dead where I live.

Yeah, I-Kore (now Urban Mammoth) have always had some pretty good sculpts. I don't believe that Kevin White still does work for them. But a lot of their new stuff is very good.

To my mind they have some really nice miniatures, though like you say, no one around here plays the game. In fact, they are having a sale from now until midnight on Sunday the 24th of June, free shipping worldwide!

This might be worth doing if you really wanted to get some of the older Void miniatures which no online merchants seem to carry anymore.

---------------

Oh by the way Fen, what convention were you working at? Do you work in the gaming industry or was this just a temporary thing?

I love some of the Metropolis mini's.

However, some of the Koralon really give me the creeps when I look at them

This one in particular.

UK Games Expo in Birmingham - Sort of a low key demonstration of new products more aimed at the non-gamer - but there were a few tournaments of things going on, I had a chance to look at some Warmachine/Hordes, Urban War & 40K. Mostly I was looking at the sculpts and paint jobs because I'm not interested in trying to drum up players for an independant game where I live. It's too much effort and it's hard to overcome the GW bias.

I used to work in the games industry before switching to something that pays better :D. But one of my friends owns a store which is part of a family owned chain over here. So I agreed to help out in exchange for some freebie stuff & transport. I used my free time to catch up with a mate, it was like a short working holiday.

These days all I really do that involves the gaming industry is commission painting for small companies.

They do make some very interesting figures.

So very, very hit-and-miss.
If my local store stocked them, I'd probably buy a lot of their stuff. Maybe that sale is worth looking into.
