So my brother and I finally sat down this weekend a played a large scale AT-43 game with 2 balanced armies.

I played Therians (robot looking fellows)

My bro played Red Blok (Space Russians)

As expected the Robots have next zero morale issues and the Russians die in droves.

However, what was surprised by, was hard it is to penetrate vehicular armor.

I successfully killed off all of my bro's Anti-tank and armor piercing weapons using my infantry.

After that he was just a sitting duck for my Wraith walkers.

This is the Wraith and it was a killer with VERY thick armor.

I really like how unit activation works, uses cards just like Confrontation.

Cool game.

My boss really digs AT-43, so much that his desk is jammed up with all the minis, we are actually going to play a game in a week or so.
Any tips on game play?
Im probably going to be using the big gorilla dudes.

Strategy depends on what your boss is playing.

If he's playing Therians (robots), prepare to be on the defensive.

If he's playing UNA, take out his vehicles and that will pretty much break his back with regard to Karmans (Apes) versus UNA (US Army).

The Karmans have TONS of anti-vehicle weapons. (Jammers and such)

USe those to there fullest, the apes aren't as tough as you may think, they are still suseptable to heavy infantry weapons. Grenades won't be much of an issue though.

If I knew what he might be playing I could help you more with suggestions and observations.

He will be using UNA for sure and apparently one of our co-workers plays as well, so it could be all kinds of nasty.

It took us about four hours to play a full game of AT-43, but it was fun.
The card activation thing is something that will get some getting used to but I did enjoy the universal chart for shooting and wounding, good game looking forward to more.

AT-43 is a seriously good game. It's kind of like trumps in some respects in that say unit A can kill unit B but not hurt unit C which is a little odd at first to seasoned 40k players.
The army deals that they are bringing out are truely amazing, I'm not just saying that either. For seventy bucks you get a FULL 2000pts army!
Not just a starter set but a full blown army!

I do find the striders a little frustrating though as they are either anti-infantry or anti-vehicle with no real in between. The striders are fantastic models though and the prepaints can be excellent.
