Well I finally decided to get on and paint some of the Endoskeletons from the Terminator Genisys boxed set this week as they had been lingering on my work bench for quite some time.

They are really rather lovely models that capture the machine-like horror of the movies nicely.

Image

The post-apocalyptic setting of this particular franchise is one of my favourites and I really think the guys who sculpted these models have managed to emulate the iconic look of the background perfectly.

Image

Overall I painted 18 normal T-800 endoskeletons with plasma guns (these are the basic plastic terminators from the box set), 5 special weapons troopers and 9 crawlers (damaged terminators).

Image

They are really well produced models and hold a lot of detail on their small frames... however modelers do need to bear in mind that the metal auxiliaries (i.e. the special weapons endoskeletons) are really rather fragile, so a degree of care is vital during assembly and play.

Image

Additionally I am planning to use these rather splendid models in my own homebrew games of Fallout, where I think they will make fine proxies for the Institute Synths of Fallout 4!

Image

Overall these are great little models and I am looking forward to assembling and painting their opposition in the form of the fighters of the noble Human Resistance!

There are a few more photos and slightly more detail on my blog: http://classicastartes.blogspot.co.uk/2016/02/terminator-genisys-endoskeletonsor.html

I can understand that feeling. They are very detailed and good looking models. Then they paint work you did on them is very well done. So I would love to see them across the table from me any day. Then again most of the time I take the table I am lucky if the enemy is the same color of base.

Cheers dude!

Ah; I know what you mean! I personally enforce a painted only miniatures rule when my gaming group play. There's nothing that ruins my gaming experience more than seeing bare metal and plastic opposite me.

Well I rarely see any bare metal or plastic. I do see a lot of primer and base coat only. Quite often from the same guys. It was very unusual for me to see a completely painted anything across the table from me. I guess here in Oregon people are just not very good at completely painting their army or units. There are some guys that use the same painted army for every army they field. They usually play space marines and have generic cameo paint jobs.

After looking at these great models, it is even more obvious where the GW got their inspiration for the Necrons.

By the way you mentioned your own home brewed games of Post Apoc or Fallout like games. What rules do you use to play that, or did you come up with your own rules entirely?

Hello Mate;

I am working on a set of my own home brew rules at the moment. But while in development I find that Rogue Trader is actually pretty good for most encounters, as it was originally designed to be a generic sci-fi rule set!

Ah, Rogue Trader. Probably my favourite rulebook.
