Does anyone know if or when Mordheim may get an update? They did some stuff for the Nemesis Crown, but otherwise, I think it's just hanging in the wind.

I have it on good authority, that Mordheim, Blood Bowel, Necromunda, Epic, etc will NOT receive an update for a VERY LONG time.

I think 2010 GW "may" do an ALL Specialist Games push. This will determine which games can "killed off" and which ones they will continue to support.

However, in the immediate future (July 2008 through December 2009) the ground work for everything has already been laid out.

I know that everything is 40K-centric for at least the next 6 months. (minus the Dark Elf release and the LOTR Mordor BS release.)

40K is the money maker for GW in the US, and even with US cost of living going up exponentially, Americans still have one of the highest disposable incomes ever.

Strangely some of the things people dislike about Mordheim I think are good ideas. Then hench/hero system is nice because I found in Necro only a few guys ever really stood out and the rest tended to just occupy the background.

So a supporting mechanic for that is nice, it made the Heroes feel like the party in an RPG while the rest were a perk brought along by one of the party. It allows me to heap my conversion love on a handful of models instead of all of them and it speeds a lot up (like experience, casualties, etc.).

The warband limit can be a bit much but hired swords don't count toward that limit so you can always expand, it just costs more past a certain point.

The thing I didn't like though is that armour is almost more useless than it is in Necro. In a game based around combat with swords and bows it often feels like the rules seem to punish armour a little too much. Critical hits ignore it 66% of the time, many weapons have hefty save mods and high strength can do the rest.

So with a houserule to reduce the amount of penetrating critical hits and increasing shields to adding a +2 to the save it makes an armoured, shielded unit a little more worth it without making armour cheap (it should stay expensive).

The rules have some warts but so far I'm loving it despite them (and it is, like Necro, simple to houserule).

Mordheim was the first 'specialist' game I got into when it was first released. I had liked the look of Necromunda back then (I was 8) but never started (my dad was the only other who played, and I played what he did), so when Mordheim was released and he decided to start that then so did I. It kinda disappeared under all that 40k entailed (more games/opponents/mins etc.) but I recently got back into it, as I do, after re-reading all the material I have on it, love the setting/idea.

I have just ordered 1 of 2 boxes to start building my Reikland warband, so they'll be appearing in the WIP some time after my WHFB Slaanesh (to sell), and start gaming again.

As for the 'issues' surrounding Mordheim, there is an unofficial publication called the 'Gentleman's Mordheim' (link below) which aims to balance the game and is held in high regard (kinda like Goobafish's house rules).

I, thanks to Catferret and Krugg_666, have just signed up to 'Toms Boring Mordheim Forum' (link below), which seems to be EFF's fantasy equivilant. I'd recomend checking it out if you are still playing Mordheim!!

But, yeah, I love/d Mordheim!! (Though not as much as Necromunda 8-) )

How about adapting Necromunda's mechanics to Mordheim ?

:D Seriously.

It's in my mind since a couple of times, and I'm thinking about and argue with some others French fora (forums? Latin word ^^).

I would speak to you of some advancing if we making this.
