Alongside Necromunda, Space Hulk and Warhammer Quest are my two other big favourites and are probably the only other tabletop games I'd personally bother to reinvest it. So I'd say go for it as it's a great game. :)

There was quite a lot of expansion packs as well adding new heroes, treasure and campaigns that are great if you can get your mits on. Also, there was a lot of house rules in the old Citadel Journels, and some of the old White Dwarfs came with new card tile pullouts and campaigns which again are great if you can find.

Unfortunately I can't remember much about the game at all since it must be at least 10+ years since I last played it. I seem to remember that later on in a campaign the heavily armoured characters like the dwarf and chaos warrior were pretty much unwoundable by most monsters so go with them, but that's about the only gameplay advice I can offer really.

I sat in on a lot of games (it wasn't my cup of tea frankly), and once your heroes get a bit hard+ magic weapons/ equipment you need a big selection of monsters for them to fight, or games get really samey. there's a lot of cards (seperate rather large decks for monsters, which room's next, tresyah, magic tresyah, events and so on) a lot of bookkeeping, once you've progressed beyond basic "baddies" eg. skaven, orcs, gobbos, there are acres and acres of tables.

The people i sat in with were having a really good crack playing it, but i think forewarned is forearmed :P

Oh, and if you do play, take a character who's good at hth, the elf with the bow basically just gets to soften up monsters for other people, so he gets less loot

After a hiatus of approximately 5 years, I have started playing Warhammer Quest and threadomanced this topic in one fell swoop! my son, daughter and various nephews and nieces spent a goodly part of last weekend killing skaven. Yay! Hopefully, this weekend we can get some of these mites up to Battle level 2!

We don't mind threadomancy here...otherwise, why keep all these old topics hanging around if not to add to them from time to time?

Warhammer Quest, to refresh my memory is that the game where you build the dungeon as you go? sorta like old Space hulk with dungeon tiles and corridors?

Tha'ts the one! Hack n Slash, kick the doors open throw in some firebombs, kill the survivors! The main attraction for me was the rules to convert an adventurer to go and fight on the battlefield in good old warhammer. The only downside is the huge selection of figures to keep the games fresh (5 Bloodletters, 12 dark elf corsairs, 61 goblins etc).
good fun.
