Btw brownrob i need to pick your brains if thats ok? Whats the best way of dealing with a rat ogre? I had 4 guys beating the sh!t out of him for most of the game but I only knocked the thing out in the 6th turn of the seconed half :-( the rest of my guys (and girl) did a sterling job of holding the rest of the ratties at bay....well except my assassin who couldnt stab a potato let alone a clan rat. :-)

hehe

well the trick is, dont touch him, try to keep him away so if your opponent wants to hit you with him, he has to use up a blitz, and on a 2+ roll as well (For Wild Animal) sure he has prehensile tail which can make things a little nasty, but if you are Dark elves its still 3+ rolls to keep away.

If you are undead or another team with cheap fodder, is to plonk a zombie on the Rat Ogre and take him out of the game by marking a 150k player with a 40k player!
Also when you get more experience, you can use frenzy to your advantage, by hoping he rolls pushbacks, follows up and finds himself blocking your guy but this time you have more assists and you hopefully get to choose

Rookie Rat Ogres are turnover machines, let them do the work for you :) The real thing I get worried about are Gutter Runners... now they can be very nasty!
Look at this guy... before he got wasted he could get 2 dice on any player if he passed his dauntless roll, one of the most infamous players on FUMBBL
http://fumbbl.com/FUMBBL.php?page=playe ... id=1691373

Assassins are pretty good against AV7, but not much more... you break AV7 about 41% of the time with Stab, i think its 28% for AV8. I dont really rate the assassins, they are cool though :) They do get wasted as more often than not they just stand there prodding and get a good kicking for their trouble! They are great at low TV to take care of said Gutter Runners which can be tough to take down, so they are more of a specialist which i take off the bench

Skaven Linemen die probably faster than any non stunty player in the game, they cant reliably dodge away and usually have to try to tie up the opposition as much as possible, so wen possible, beat the linemen up :)

Thanks Rob, thats what we came up with after the game...was a bit late by then though.

The gutter runners didnt trouble me cos i dealt with them quite efficiently 8-) they scrunch nicely. I caused an insane amount of armour breaks through the game but didnt injure one of them that was down to luck though.

I only played as dark elves because those were the models I had (was using corsairs, scouts and witch elves from my wahammer army as proxies). I wanna try ogres next, I know they are supposed to hard too but i love the models and the chance to chuck a snotling is to good to avoid.

Thanks for the help, depending on how it goes I may be back for more. :(

Yes! FUMBBL (automated league using outdated (by about 12 months) LRB4 rules using a fully automated client that does everything, except make the tea :) ) http://fumbbl.com its been around for about 4 years. Believe it or not they are pushing to have played 1,000,000 games by the end of the year, its massive and you can play a game in under an hour

PBEM http://www.blood-bowl.bet/MBBL uses pbem, much slower paced and less people play, but is the very latest ruleset, which is widely acknowledged to be the most balanced yet, you can expect to play a game between a few days up to a fortnight

well they have been giving about a 30-40% winning record, but dont expect too much, they can dish out pain when they dont go off to sleep, but snotlings so squish! sidestep can be a real pain
I have found that snotlings and ogres work well in mini teams, snots can dodge to any square on a 2+ with reroll, so can get you good assists, always try to get 3 dice blocks when you can! dont be afraid of throwing them to put pressure on thr ball either,, with sidestep they can be annoying ti rookie teams without block or tackle!
But I guess your mate is also on the board so Ill keep it hush for now

Haha we arent that competative, i'm not to worried about losing as long as we both have a laugh thats all that matters.

If i have the bone head rule right the ogre has to have a minder or go wild animal like the ratogre yes? and if so can the snotties act as minders?

Oh and is throwing a snotling an actual viable tactic or will I just be doing it for a laugh?

Sorry for being such a niusance.

Minder? The only 'nega-trait' players who needs someone next to them are those with Really Stupid (Troll and Beast of Nurgle.)

The way the nega-traits work are as follows:

Bonehead
Declare action - Roll Bonehead, on a 1 they do nothing, lose the action and their Tackle Zones. They regain their Tackle Zones when they successfully perform an action (passing the BH Roll etc)

Really Stupid - As Bonehead, except the roll is a 4+. It becomes a 2+ if there is a player (who doesn't have really stupid as well) from their team next to them.

Wild Animal:
When declaring a Blitz or Block, they can do it on a 2+. When attempting a move, pass, foul or hand off they can do it on a 4+. The other difference is when they fail they don't lose their Tackle Zones. You can declare a blitz action and not actually throw a block if you really need to move a wild animal. Adjacent team mates don't help with this.

Take Root:
Roll on Any action. 2+ they're fine. 1 - they Take Root and can't move from the square they're currently until they're knocked down or the drive ends. This also means players can't be pushed into their square as they can't be pushed back.

Side note: You must roll a nega-trait roll for any action a big guy attempts, even if they're prone. This makes standing up a Wild Animal difficult, as they need to use a Blitz to get up on a 2+, or risk a 4+ to stand.

Stunned Big Guys don't roll the nega-trait as they turn face up at the end of turn automatically.

As for throwing Snotlings, yeah it's actually worth throwing one nearly every turn. It helps them move further and assists in setting them up in scoring positions. You can also lob them at a group of opposing players and hope to hit one of them. Just be careful, hitting one of your own players will cause a turnover.
Also, be careful if you throw the ball carrier, as if he gets KD'd it's a turnover. Any other snotling is fair game, and they can even stand up and perform an action if they haven't acted yet, get knocked down in the throw and their armour isn't broken.

I hope that helps.

sorry my bad, perhaps it was a different version, i thought they had to pass a dice test unless they had some one to prod them. ---ah really stupid not bone head!

Soz only been studying the rules for about two weeks.

re tactics its all fun anyway and we very often help each other out in game as we aren't competitve.

I need to find an interesting/ fun team to play against the ogres.

goblins are quite fun too as you can throw the gobs about (though, trolls arent as smart or as dextrous as ogres, and they try to eat the beggars sometimes as well!)

But they do have interesting things too, like secret weapons, nothing like a well placed bomb to knock down a few brutish ogres!, or taking a chainsaw to snotlings, and then using the pogo stick to put the boot into downed players! Though goblins are the 2nd worst BB team behind Halflings, but then again, ogres and vampires arent much better!

Avtually vampires are quite a good team if you are after a laugh, as sometimes you do more damage to your own team than the opponent does!, and vampires are pretty good players if they can keep their minds focused on the game and not thinking about drinking blood from their teammates, hypnotic gaze is a fun skill too

Yeah, but I wouldn't put starting Vampires against starting Ogres. tbh the Ogre team will probably win that one as they're able to rip through the Thralls until there are just the Vampires left.

I'd say play Goblins with a couple of bribes and secret weapons against Ogres. That tends to be amusing if you take a Chainsaw and a Ball and Chain (about the only things on starting that do make Ogres worry apart from Mummies.)

think i will stick with skaven for atleast one game to add conistancy.

have to see how my death rate copes :D

am tempted with an idea of a stunty league at some point.

tis good fun, very impressed so far.

One more question:
Any advice on us trying to play basic league rules.

i would guess, free ff =5. and perhaps doublin the income to allow for deaths and advancement?
