Hmm... I read that Wiki link with interest. It sounds like Bethesda Softworks wants to do a good job. But I am not a gaming geek like I used to be. I am out of touch with the industry (both Miniature and console).

The last P/C games I pursued intently were P/C pinball sims.

I will have to keep on eye out for Fallout 3. Sounds like it should be pretty good.

Thanks for the link Yarlen.

No problem, i've been following Fallout 3 for a fair while.
I'd prefer Bethesda make it than the game be scrapped.

After much searching - and frustration - the only thing I've been able to confirm is that Bethesda has the rights to the game - and that they are working on it.

Pretty much everything else is rumor. In the movie industry that would be termed as "developmental hell".

I even sent an e-mail to the company. They did confirm that they were working on it, but they would not say what stage it is in, what systems it would play on, or if it was even close to being released.

The company does have a reputation of not being all that informative to the gaming community media. It is my understanding that they like to keep their cards close to the vest, and then when they are ready to they put all the cards on the table at once. Not what I would prefer... but it's how they (Bethesda Softworks) seems to do business.

I just hope that it will play at least on a P/C since I get no interface time with the game console at home.

I used to be in an RPG group. We actually played a game in the Fallout setting. Except, that we played in a different part of the US.

We played in setting near Montana, and the climate was different, meaning that Montana was more of a temperate to arid state instead of the near artic woodland that it is now.

We had a lot of fun and my character became a sniper, weapon of choice being Gauss Rifle. Man was that fun.

The game ended with us getting captured by the new gov't and being allowed to live our lives in the bottom levels of this underground base.

Not really a happy ending, but it was d@mn fun.

Back on topic, I would love to see Fallout 3 come out.

bethesda Soft made some good software in the past.

So I hope they do Fallout 3 right, assuming that they ever do it.

Hi,

just wanted to thank everyone for the input. I picked up a copy of Fallout and the fallout Tactics. I haven't started them yet because i also picked up a copy of Torment.
I have about 4 to 6 hours on it so far and it is a very good game. I am really enjoying it.

Thanks again for the the great input.
Wayne

Fallout is the sh!t. Greatest game, period. Kicked so much goddamn ass. I have logged so many hours into those games; I've played and replayed them using every playing-style and character type imaginable. Brotherhood Knight, tribal savage, serial killer, prick, you name it and I've played and roleplayed it.

I hope Bethsoft doesn't fcuk-up Fallout and make it a graphic-enhanced piece of fluff like Oblivion. It may sound harsh, but I'm not gonna trust anyone 'cept the original Interplay with making a Fallout game, until I see some damn STELLAR results. Van Buren looked badass and was nearly done at time Bethsoft bought the rights and I hear those assholes are scrapping it completely. Bethsoft did a great job with Morrowind and I'd love to see the TES skill-system in Fallout, but after Oblivion, I'm not so sure they can handle it. Only time will tell...

Well Bethesda softworks have anounced that Fallout 3 will be using the Oblivion engine, so chances are it will be alot more PC than the previous games.

Other than that, who knows what they will do with it.

AH Jeez... They Better not make it an FPS.

I really miss the whole birds-eye view RPG style of play that Fallout and Baldur's Gate had. (Before Baldur's Gate became the inane hack/slash that is Diablo 3)

WOTC ruined Baldur's Gate Throne of Blood by insisting that it be an easier game than prior editions.

Arcade style is cool, just don't call it RPG when it is really just mindless killing.

Always tell my friends that the best way to play Diablo 2 is to turn your computer off, turn out the lights, and just sit in the dark click the left mouse button rapidly. It's the same thing.

Actually i just remembered about a week ago, the 'Van Buren tech demo' was released to the public.

So if you want to tryout Fallout 3 as it would have likely 'been' go give it a try.

241 meg download.
I'm sure any search engine will provide you with a link.

Indeed:

http://3ddownloads.com/nma-fallout/fo3/misc/Demo.rar

I'm gonna check this out just as soon as I get home. The Dawn of War demo's gonna have to wait for an hour or two.

For some reason there seems to be two versions of the tech demo, the version hosted on Gamespot is over 400 meg.

No idea if there's a difference or not.

My understanding is that .rar have better compression rates than .zips, so that probably explains the discrepancy.
