Hello,

I've been posting over at DakkaDakka http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/309038.page but thought you guys over here might like having a looksee at my Scavvies too. I'm really enjoying making and painting these guys. I've wanted to have a Scavvy gang for ages but the miniatures have been a let down, so accidentally I've started converting my own. Rules wise... I will be amending the pdf and Outlanders and borrowing cool ideas from, here (mutation injuries), Warseer and Anthony Case (mutations). Oh and most importantly scrapping ghouls as followers, come on scavvies are cannibals anyway! :-o Anyway onto the models, I hope you like them....

I'm no expert with the camera or photoshop so the pics look better when opened.

Comments and suggestions are more than welcome.

Peter

Welcome and I have to say, those are some phenomenally well painted models, well done! However, that can't be the whole gang, we're talking Scavvies here, where are the rest!? :D

dealmaster - The rest of the gang are still on various sprues  I hope to have the gang finished at some point after Christmas. I've got six legs left on the ghoul frame. I seem to be getting two models a month finished at the moment.

I have built my spear gun scaly and he is part painted.

I am also building another scavvy at the moment... who has a whiff of blood and the sea about him (hint hint) :)

I am in proces of reworking of my scavvies now, and i will probably stole some of your ideas :>

From where is fat belly part ? or is it sculpted ?

AWu - Thanks. Steal away. I'll take it as a compliment. (There are some WIP shots in my thread over at Dakka)

As for Helpmann - The Juve Catcher he was a happy accident (along with Herve). I had bought the Grot sprue for the plastic stub like weapons. While looking through the box I though....I can make a couple of scavvies out of this :D Helpmann was made using the following...

Belly, body and legs are the plastic Ork Runtherd, shoulders clipped down to reduce the Orkyness. Green stuff fur shrug on the shoulders to hide the mess.
Head is a plastic Gretchin. Ears and nose clipped down and a liberal amount of green stuff to re-sculpt the face, to make it look a bit like a fat ghoul (not sure I succeeded but I'm really happy how it turned out).
Arms, Beastman.
Gun, Grot pistol.
Cleaver, Ogre Bulls sprue (clipped down).
Backpack, Ork Loota Mekboy.
Meat ribs (not quite as pink in real life) , Kroot sprue.

Cheers

Peter

Thanks
Ive found the body.
pity i wil have to buy box of grots to get it, but at least they are cheapest plactic box from GW :>
And maybe i will make those rebel grots i am planing for many years ?

Scavviemakingaking from random bits was my way, buyt when ive done my scavvies there were no such random bits as today yet... Ive used only old boyz, catachans and zombies...So they need to be upgraded to standard of current plastic sprues parts (wich makes fortunate my lazines to not painting them....for 8 years...

:-o

as the others have said they're superb looking mate :)

really characterful and it's fun attempting to spot which bits you've used to make up each model (hard fun mind)

AWu - Ah yes the problem of having to buy a whole box. It was ok for me since I needed the guns, so the two bodies I used were a bonus. I have to say I'm not much of a fan of the plastic grots themselves. They seem a bit under detailed and rushed. The Gorka Morka metal ones I've been meaning to paint for years are beautiful.

If you want the body why not try a bits site. I use http://www.bitsandkits.co.uk they are a great source (though they are sold out of the runt bard body  at the moment lol ). I even got myself some forge world bolters off them :D

screamingabdab Cheers. Haha I love that game "Guess the bit on the conversion"

Flamekebab - Thank you.

Hmm, they have some things on the cheap side (Ive ordered over 20 random bits for 6 pounds inc shipping) .. but they miss things I would really like, like said runtherd or kroot ribs, or giant cage .. These things are hard to buy as separate bits ;([/quote]

Definitely the best thrown together (scratchbuilt) Scavies I have ever seen. The spiky ghoul and midget Herve are particular favorites. The painting is tops also. A real gritty style to fit the underhive.

I should have my second scaly finished by the end of the week.

AWu - I know what you mean. I buy stuff I want as soon as a I see it. I had to do two separate orders for my Brass Scorpions extra legs. Worth it though since i managed to make one Brass Scorpion and a defiler from two defiler kits and two extra legs off bits and kits. Talking of bits i cannot wait to get my hands on some of the new dark eldar witch models.

Gask - Cheers. Mac is great...I love his slightly gormless look and Herve just looks sneaky.

Some fantastic models there PDH, some top notch conversion work and painting. You have managed to merge the different pieces brilliantly, I look forward to seeing the rest of the gang... and the rest of your Necromunda stuff -hint, hint.
