Hi retro gamers!!

I have just finished a 1989 Rogue Trader Land Raider in old school salamanders colours...complete with a hand painted banner and sigils!

Cheers mate;

Yeah this is an old classic; I think it disappeared of GWs shelves in the early 90s.

If you scroll down my blog you'll see that when I acquired it it was in a terrible state so I had to do a fair bit of renovation work to salvage it.

Forge World have recently released a new resin version of it as part of their Horus Heresy range.

I have to say while I love these old models they are a real (&#$@!) to put together compared to modern models.

I remember right before the new land raiders came out, you could sell these old ones for a small fortune on Ebay.

And I have to admit, I am a softy for old school Rogue Trader...especially Orky bitz and kontraptionz. :)

Ah yes; there was a huge gap in the availability of land raider models wasn't there. They discontinued the old one ages before they'd designed its replacement.

The old models were so much better; or at least I like to remember them that way!!

We're looking at doing a convention of old school games and models later in the year. You should come along!

When and Where?

Even if I can't go, we can certainly advertise it here on the Eastern Fringe, send out a mass email to all the members, let them know what is going on as well.

It's being organised by the old hammer community at Foundry in Newark; England.

It should be awesome, if you're into the older games it's worth checking out the forums at: http://forum.oldhammer.org.uk/index.php

There's a big movement for the old school games and minis here....
