Well, i plan to build myself a nice 4*4 or even 4*6 Necro board so i gotta start somewhere. I took part in a recent Terragenesis competition to build some terrain so i'd have a deadline somewhere. I just finished today so i just copied my entry post to over here. Hope you don't mind. Enjoy. :)

+++TRANSMISSION BEGINS+++

Underhivin'

The green, blue and green buildings are from the Necromunda starter set and are not a part of my entry, same goes for the 2 card barricades. :)

Concept
My entries represent a bunch of underhive themed terrain for Necromunda. :)

The Hive Primus of Necromunda is a structure 10 miles high and thus consists of level upon level of hab- and industrial blocks. These are supported by countless pillars, many of which now lay in ruin due to carless maintenance, gang fights, accidents and ages spanning unto millenia. They are constructed of reinforced plascrete and hold inside them pipes for power lines and water supply.

I made 3 such pillars, two of them damaged yet still standing proudly in place, the thrid fallen and broken, half covered with underhive dirt. In my case however, the nearby gang used them as a basic structure to build their defence towers upon. The floors and fences are made of metal, as are the ladder bars. Gangers can access the first floor via a rope ladder that can be rolled up in case of enemy attacks.

Well, this is about it... I may add some grafitti and other minor detail...

Comments, questions, ideas? Fire away. :)

Cheers and happy new year,
Oskar

very nice work there.
i like the fallen pillars and the tower, they work really well.
generally all the terrain i make for necromunda doesnt really fit into a necro world because it doesnt allow for a roof, or at least i dont have any supports for it.

Meh, 'twas just an idea, i wanted some existing structure to base the towers on, i was inspired by this pic...

My favorite pic from the rulebook, the guy's badass and in the backgroud you can see a big ol' pillar. I think it's acutally a chimney though.

Actually my board will resemble this settlement to a degree. :)

The corrugated "metal" is just painted corrugated cardboard. As for good looks and playability, i don't think these two terms ought to exclude each other. With a bit of planning and a deadline it's really not a problem. :)

Thanks for the comments,
Oskar

P.S.: In the JAN-FEB Terragenesis competition i plan to build some rusty industrial machinery, stay tuned. :P

Well, i made some progress on my board... :)

I'll get back with more photos once it's done, but here's an overview of how it looks now (one piece missing):

Fungus farm closeup:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v673/ ... 4469_1.jpg

I really like this shot, it's my leader (about to be taken out by Delaques):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v673/ ... 4463_1.jpg

These photos were taken where we had a demo game going and the lighting conditions were terrible, so the colours are screwed up. But yeah, the baseboard is still to bright and so are the individual bases. We'll get on that ASAP.

'till then,
Oskar

Just wanted to share this board setup from our newly started 500cred campaign.

This particular game was a Hit & run scenario with me defending. Notice all the gangers i set up. That's right, one. Whoopee. Still, i came through and won by a sump rat's whisker.

Anyway, here 'tis, link for full size:

Yay, new piece. :)

I challenged my buddy Caleb over from TerraGenesis to enter the 2 month long terrain competition on the last day. So we did. Here's my result, an old oil tank converted into a dwelling.

Please notice the flower pattern on the shower...cloth...thing.

I like how it came out, that rust is badass. You can never have enough rust. Yep. :)

Take care and happy new year,
Oskar

The toilet looks...well ....ewww :)

I love the terrain piece, the inside is just awesome with some kick ass details that just bring it to life and makes it look lived in.

Thanks everyone. :)

Yeah, i was going for the grimy post-apoc look. Gotta love Fallout. Wonder how Fallout 3 will turn out...

And, yes, boys and girls, paint your terrain. At least a basecoat, a drybrush and a wash. It's really quick and looks great. After all, gaming on half assed terrain is just as bad as gaming with unpainted minis.

Excellent work... Love the details inside the buildings.

I also loved the fallout posters and TV screens.

Gentlemen, i give you...

BIG SAUSAGE PIZZA!

Not to clutter up the thread with pics, here's some linkage:

A starving Orlock gang attacks the pizza hut!

A not so action-y shot of the posters. I made the advertisments for this great recreational beverage a while ago on my PC. As seen here on our fungus farm.

An even less action-y shot of rust for all ya rust lovers. Can't quite get a decent photo of it...

GET AWAY FROM ME YOU SACK OF MEAT!

If anyone wants Fungus Lager or Nuka cola graphics to print out and use on terrain, let me know. ;)

On TerraGenesis I wrote:
The concept for this terrain piece is actually pretty darn stupid. My gaming group came across... *shudder* something online. Some thought the idea brilliant, the others very much less so. In any case, i built it to spite the latter and give the former a laugh or two.

Now then, construction. The base was simply a "Learn English in 24 hours" CD. Most of the structure was made from 1.5mm cardboard. The small bit of mesh you may or may not see is insect netting. The oven is an old capacitor with cardboard bits added. The chimney is simply a straw, as are the dishes and the phone is plasticard. The Vespa is made of different kinds of hardboard and an old plastic wheel. The awning, posters, counter cover, menu and pizzaboxes were all computer designed and printed. Painting was just a spray undercoat and assorted acrylic paints. Oh, and the pizzaguy is an old plastic Necromunda miniature with a resculpted facial features to make him more friendly and a resculpted hand so he holds a pizza, not a gun.

Enjoy,
Oskar
