I have been painting and playing Necromunda for several years now and I have several gangs but I have left the bases plain flat black.
So I was ordering some basing supplies to start doctoring up my plain bases and saw on the Army Painter website something called "Battlefields Basing Glue" so I figured since I have used Super Glue and tired to use Elmer's, which is a white water base glue that dries clear, with poor results, that I would give it a try.
Well it turns out to be the same glue as the Elmer's, a white water based glue that dries clear. :-(
In the past when I tired this glue it would just dry and fall off the plastic bases. :(
SO if I use this new glue I am expecting the same results.
Should I prime the bases with something prior to attempting it or should I just go back to Super Glue?
In the past the bases where just the plastic surface that had been washed in soapy water and rinsed.
As they stand now they have a flat black primer on them.

Also what is the best way to fill the slot in the base?

Thanks for any and all help.
Wayne

firstly i fill slots with green stuff.

the glue you mention is called PVA glue here. it has many different varieties. try using a good quality wood glue. its the same thing but stronger. i have never had an issue with it personally. but it depends what you are trying to glue.

I have never had that problem with Elmers/PVA. How much material are you trying to glue to the base?

What I do is paint the base an underlying darker color of what I am putting over it because the glue dries clear and you will see it through the flock.

But you might try scoring several groves into your base to give the glue something to grab onto.

Also, filling gaps, I usually cut thin paper strips and glue them over the gaps and then paint them like the base.

Thanks for the help and responding.

I think my problem is that the bases were just plastic without a primer coat.

I will try one that I have painted and see how that goes. I was only attempting to put on
a light layer of ballast. But when the PVA dried it just fell right off the bases.

The paper glued to the base for the slot sounds good, never thought of that. Doh!

Thanks McCragge and Squevil for the help.
