Anyone read The Turkey City Lexicon on the Black Library forum?
Its basically a Science-Fiction hack writing glossary, with commentary from Matt Farrer on how certain entries relate to the 40K setting.

Entertaining read.
I myself write a bit of fiction, which I may or may not post eventually. I was glad to see that I'm not guilty of too much, if any, of the listed hackery. Some good links to similar articles spread throughout as well.

My favourite entry:
Quote:
Second-order Idiot Plot

A plot involving an entire invented SF society which functions only because every single person in it is necessarily an idiot. (Attr. Damon Knight)

MF – The assertion that this applies to the 40K Imperium is not a new one. Floor’s open…

The purpose of writing is to inflate weak ideas, obscure poor reasoning, and inhibit clarity.
With a little practice, writing can be an intimidating and impenetrable fog, behind which halftruths and untruths can frolic and procreate unmolested.

I've read it once, maybe twice. Unfortunately I am not aware of what errors I have made in my writting. I tend to just write.

I should give this article another go...

And I would also like to encourage other writers to give it a read over. I have found it very helpful.
