Hi there people!

after a long hiatus, I'm still here. Still playing 2ed (we also tried some BFG and come Mordheim) but in the end, it always comes down to 40K 2ed.. ;) ;)

So, any news? Is the retro gaming community still alive and kicking or people are slowly being absorbed in 6th (is it the current one?) edition with its enormous plastic monstruosities?!?!? :blackeye

Nice too find you back, and meet the new ones! :)

Hello mate;

Good to see you back. Yeah I'm still playing 2nd ed 40k and 20 Ed Space Marine/Epic. I mainly post my Battle Reports and modelling stuff on my blog now; though I come back here frequently to see how things are going on.

For those of us into the old school scene there is a whole retro (old-hammer) community at
http://forum.oldhammer.org.uk/index.php

It's very welcoming and full of like minded people. We're looking at doing a retro games convention in August; though that'll be in the UK.

Anyway good to have you back; now give us some updates on your hobby activities.

Good to know! Well August is not that bad.. with cheap flights we could arrange something if you are enough near to an airport!
Here's pretty much the same. We are only four, and have our highs and lows. Lately we (actually I am the less involved) tried Mordheim but it now seems to be stalling. We played some good BFG and I ejoyed it quite a lot. I built a fleet of Tyranids using the bits from my 40K army (in this, good bless new editions platic bugs!).. but in the end I always fall in 40K 2ed.

We hade a 2000 pts game last night ('Nids vs Chaos).. a blend of 40K2ed and Space Hulk my pal came up with. It was a pleasant evening. There was a crashed ship in the centre of the table with Tyranids pouring out while the Chaos army had to manage to enter it. In the end they made it thanks to a lucky call with an Assail psychic power while the Chaos horde was being hacked to pieces by by Tyranids. In the subsequent Space Hulk game it went not so good for me! Oh well! :)

I think I will try to organize a new game in a few days and go on painting my bugs.. Maybe I'll post some picture of them.!

There should be an airport nearby; we have gamers from Sweden; France; Spain and the US looking at coming so it would be could to add Italy to the mix.

Great to have you back, Darkweaver! I haven't played any 2nd Edition for several years. Mostly playing Warpstrike.

But I'd love to play some more. I'm finally getting the finishing touches on some of my old tyranids done, and I'd love to unleash the horde.

Im still lurking around, atlhough atm wargamerau's 2nd edition section seems more active lately. I haven't played a game this year but hopefully will play again in autumn. I may also be finally able to let my Squats army get painted.

Just ended a 2K pts battle, using 2ed rules and army creation, with 7ed mission (diagonal set up, two objectives to contest) and reserves. Really an odd game.. in the end we had a draw. Bot controlling an objective, me haveing scored 1pt for killing his general (Chaos Lord on Steed of Slaanesh), my opponent 1pt for being the first to destroy an opponent's unit (my speeder, took at extreme range by a Blastmaster).

The usual thorwing of dice around the room for bad luck and so on.. a funny game as usual. I love the Vindicator.. at the end of the game there were three Rhinos, a Predator, an Attack Bike and the Vindicator itself buring at the centre of the table! :) :)

Just for the record, my army (note: I have heavily edited the AB datafile to match our house rules)
I drawn Vortex, Purge Psyker, Teleport and Psychic Shield for the Librarian. All of them totally uneffective save the Psy Shiled, which saved him (and the game being the army Commander) in the last Psy phase of the game from an Acquiescence that was going to turn him into a spawn.

Half Assault Squad, without JUmp Packs, was with the Techmarine inside the Rhino.
