While recently going through a bag of bitz that was given to me a while back, I was able to sort out a lot of stuff that I could ID as "Epic" (thanks, handy GW 2006-2007 catalog!). While going through it I found several odd pieces that I couldn't ID. A friend of mine said that it was an Imperator Titan, which he could tell from the castle-like structure on one of the pieces.

It took a while to find something on it, but I did find this page: http://www.mustangsalling.dk/imperium/metalica.html (scroll about halfway down to see the Emperor-class titans).

The pieces I have look a lot like the one on the left. More specifically, I have:

-an entire right leg
-most of a left leg (have the "foot", missing the "leg" part that connects to the "torso")
-a torso, sans head and weapons
-most of the upper part (I have everything except the gun between the two front towers)

So, I suppose the point of this post is...

-Any idea why GW has NO info on this item that they must've produced? I understand that they're excellent at burying their own history (particularly with SG), but this is ridiculous!
-Any idea where I could find replacement pieces to repair it? I'm not going to play Epic or anything, but I doubt someone would want to buy an incomplete Titan, even if it is an allegedly rare one.

I have more Epic stuff that I can't ID, but can't get pics up to ID it since the g/f took her camera with her for the time being. :(

EDIT: I may have found the head to this titan, but I'll wait until I can get a pic up for someone to confirm.

I have no idea why GW buried the thing, but unfortunately it is not very rare so far as I know. It came with some gawd-awful supplement for Space Marine, the name of which eludes me. I can't even remember whether it was a separate game or a supplement for Space Marine, but it used the same rules - you got one Imperator titan and two massive Ork gargants, plus a bunch of imperial knights and ork tanks. 1995 or 1996 was the release date I think.

Anyway, the titan itself was a beast and damn near impossible to kill - it totally TOTALLY unbalanced Space Marine, as none of the other races had anything remotely comparable. That Titan was responsible for me giving up on Space Marine, actually... but it is great fun to convert! I turned one of mine into a Khorne titan that came out OK I think. If you wanted to play Epic scale, it makes for good parts of terrain.

Actually, I have a couple of these lying around in pieces somewhere in storage. As luck would have it, I'm temporarily in the same hemisphere as my Space Marine stuff. If you wanted, I could just send you the other bits (at least most of them - I'll need to check what I've got) in return for a small bag of some 40K plastic bits or something. PM me if you're keen.

I don't think 1995/1996 is right. I started playing in August 1994 and I was definitely never around for any Epic supplements. I think it was fairly new when I started, though, so it might have been 1994.

I said "allegedly" as a sorta joke to the guys on eBay who sell everything as "OOP!!!" or "VERY RARE!!!" :P

D'oh! Two bads in one post. :(

ntw3001 - you're probably right about the earlier date. I still can't remember what the damn thing was called, and am too lazy to google for it.

Mafiacheese - good call! :D What I find especially annoying about those ebayers is that the guys who do actually sell the rare stuff - like the unreleased confrontation scavvies and stuff - don't usually put "VERY RARE!!!" in the auction details... if you went by some of the descriptions, you'd think a genestealer hybrid that you could get through mail order up until they revamped it was harder to find than the unreleased stuff!

The titan is an Imperator Titan. The expansion, I believe, was called Adeptus Titanicus.

The pieces of the Titan. Pending whether or not the below images are the head of this bad boy, it would seem that I'm only missing the arms (which very well may be in an unsorted bitz box somewhere nearby).

This may be the head, I'm not sure. It's certainly about the right size, since it's too big to be a 28mm scale head. It kinda resembles (to me, anyway) the WFB Chaos knight helms, with the cleft in the middle of the helm and dots (airholes?) in the sides. Not that anyone here can see, since I couldn't get a suitable enough closeup of the dang thing. :(

You have most of an Imperator titan there and yes, that is the head. One arms should look like a big plasma weapon and the other a big assault cannon.

GW buried all the specialist games(BFG, Epic, Necromunda, etc.) here:

http://www.specialist-games.com/default.asp

There is mention of the Imperator here and there, but GW nixed it when they found it was extremely one-sided. It is capable of taking on an entire army nearly by itself. Having just one of these on the battlefield would almost surely guarantee victory. The Titan Legions box came with 1 Imperator and 2 ork Mega-Gargants, and a host of S.M. and ork troops, various buildings, punch-out counters, data sheet cards and mission and objective cards.

You can still find the rules for the Imperator, plus all the classis Epic minis, in the Epic rulebook from GW. The core rules are available free in .PDF on the specialist website, but this does not include stats for the classic models.

The great thing about extra bits from an Imperator is they very easily work as terrain pieces for Epic, especially when you assemble the upper-torso( starting with the flat base above the head).
