My mate is a fan of Eve online so he was easily persuaded to try BFG with me. He will run imperial fleets to start with. As im a big necron fan (host of the largest necron facebook fan page I may add :borg ) I decided I will continue my trend and go for a necron fleet.

The details are not fantastic in these pictures, but for what you do have to paint they are table top standard. Pretty much exactly the same as my necron army anyway.

I next plan on making some scratch built cruisers to finish this fleet at about 2000 points. Then I will scratch build a tyranid fleet from all the spare nid parts I have. Hopefully I will then be updating this thread slowly over time. Hope it doesnt get lost in the many other bits of hobby stuff I have going on! My hobby tends to be collecting hobbies!

BFG was one of those games I never got into, but kind of wished I had. Best of luck with this project. :D

I have since bought 16 more raiders and another tomb ship. Just waiting on some parts to build 5 scythe class cruisers and i am good to go! I'll post more pics when they are done.
If you want to try it, it is worth a gander. The rules seem pretty fun.

They look awesome. I really wish I'd gotten into BFG before GW withdrew support for it!! It's something I always meant to do but never quite got around to! Oh well!

Lets face it Apocalypse is Epic in 28mm.....designed to rob you of money....maybe they'll release a new supplement called Apocalypse Battlefleet with a 28mm scale Strike Cruiser for £9,000 that is roughly the size of a big van! And can be hovered over your board/house during battles!!

So, finished my first fleet. I got a fair understanding of the rules now too. This fleet is rather large for most games but looks cool with all the ships.

That looks f*cking awesome! Sweeeeeeeeet!

So how easy are the rules to grasp mate; can you pick up and play or do you really need to read though them a couple of times before you attempt a battle!?

Well I have not had a game yet so it is hard to say how difficult the rules actually are. You could pick up and play but there would be quite a bit of spoon feeding needed.
I have read the rules 2 or 3 times now, I rarely sit and concentrate on it. I just look at them for a couple of mins here and there. The only tricky bit is hitting ships and boarding actions. You can't just see a BS and know what you need to roll to hit. You need to take 5/6 factors into account to hit the enemy and instead of using your own skill, you hit according to the enemy ships skill.
