I've been trying to get into the western skirmish game deal. Does anyone know of a good one? I found plenty on the interweb but I don't know if they're any good. Help ol' Grim out here, would ya?

I also tryed to find the GW western game but I couldn't find it on their website.

Legend of the Old West and the additional Blood on the Plains expansion is a good game. GW Historical, plays a lot like Lord of the Rings. The other western game that was always a lot of fun was Boothill by Brian Blume. Long time out of print, but it was a HUGE favorite

Desperado is a great set of rules. Its fast & simple, easily picked up on in one gaming session. That & it is comple mayhem. No telling who will win until the last play is done. :)

Or you could just tinker with the free Necromunda rules, after all it's inspired by western skirmish games.

It pretty much is the LotR system, just with a few ranged weapons options. The beauty of the game is that it can be adapted to nearly any system between the American War of Independence and the end of the Spanish Civil War.

I'll third the vote for Legends Of The Old West, the main rulebook (with options for lawmen, desperadoes, and cowboys) and the expansion Frontier: Blood On The Plains (with options for US infantry/cavalry/buffalo soldiers, texas rangers, and 'indians') are excellent!

Legends is great and has a campaign system like Necromunda and Mordheim.
"Wanted: Dead or Alive" is a realy great ruleset if you want a lot of fun with a few friends and many beers over an evening. It's as simply as it is exciting. One of the best rulesets I came across in 20+ years of gaming.
