At the end of October GW spammed everyone on their mailing list with an ad for the movie. The clips and trailers from the official web site tended to make me think of the movie as a very long video game cut scene. This may be because they reminded me of the Dawn of War series, which often boiled down to Space Marines versus Chaos Marines.

There could be some 40K stories that I would pay $40 to own on DVD, but space marines and chaos space marines killing each other just isn't one of them. In fact, come to think of it, endless space marine vs chaos space marine battles is what made me swear off playing marines at the end of 3rd edition!

It could go either way, I am not expecting much from it but will watch it.

I found out about it the same time as I saw http://www.spacemarine.com which also looks interesting. Something different from a FPS and with co-op mode. Again could go either way, will have to wait and see.

:) I can really say more than that about it, it's pretty much what I was expecting in a movie about space marines. Hopefully it'll make enough cash to warrant them making something more interesting in the future...

I was thinking about buying it, but the more I watched the trailers, the more it seemed that the intro to Dawn of War 2 was better made. And the voice acting...I don't know, not very space marineish.

Plus there is some guy trying to give an inspirational speech to like 8 people in a hall...they should have filled that with more marines or troops or something to give it more impact, (even if they dont' go planet side) And the voice of the guy giving the speech...to weak! Get some tough sounding people that actually sound like they have been in service to the emperor for their whole lives.
