I have poked my head in a few times but always left because it was empty. The old chat room required a separate login but it did have the advantage that you could see if people were using it from the forum page. Maybe if that feature could be added back in somehow, people would use it more.

We had an unprecedented THREE people in chat today.

Seeing the miracle of modern science in action was simply beautiful.

And Grimjaw pointed out to me that we do have a "people in chat" indicator, it's just very small and usually reads 0. The old one was a bit more prominant.

I did notice that the inactivity timeout was pretty short. It might look more occupied and get more attention if that was increased so that people were not kicked as soon as they quit sending messages.

It is already set to max.

I am not to happy with that chatroom. It is better then our last one, but no one really uses it so, I have never really bothered to mess with it.

But if there is a new found interest, perhaps I could do some work on it. Or maybe get a better one.

I think the big reason the chatroom is always a ghost town is because it's stuck all the way at the bottom of the forum. Since there's no real reason to scroll so far down people do not notice it. At HotH the chatroom bar was at the very top of the screen and then we had a chat going at least a couple times a week.
