MA4e is the 4th edition of the world’s first Sci-Fi RPG. It is designed to be playable, and not to get bogged down in rules. It is flexible, and values fun over mechanics.

Metamorphosis Alpha has been re-released by James Ward. This will be the 4th edition.

I've never played the game, but I know that it was the forerunner and inspiration for Gamma World. I remember reading Dragon Magazine articles about Metamorphosis Alpha when I was very young and just getting into role-playing. One was called "What color is your mutant?", it was by Gary Gygax and was in Best of The Dragon volume I.

When you visit the page be sure to click the nav button for "miniatures". Most of their painted miniatures seem to be from the short lived Combat Zone game and Mark Copplestone (maybe from his old Grenadier stuff). Though they don't seem to be selling the miniatures.

The game designers themselves know these values are not realistic and they do not intend them to replace or invalidate the fluff. So let's get on with our lives and not fixate over the cosmic ramifications of game mechanics which we already know are streamlined for larger forces at the expense of detail.
