Talking Points: Real Madrid 7 Deportivo La Coruna1 – Seventh heaven as Ronaldo and Bale star

ทางเข้าสโบ Real Madrid earned a much-needed victory with a 7-1 demolition of Deportivo at the Santiago Bernabeu on Monday morning.

Adrian Lopez gave Deportivo a surprise lead in the 23rd minute as the hosting defence fell asleep, allowing the Spaniard a back post tap-in.

Nacho Fernandez equalised just past the half hour mark when Marcelo picked him out with an exquisite pull back, with the centre-back providing a strikers’ finish to hit the back of the net.

A Gareth Bale stunner gave Real the lead just before the break, as he bent a left-footed strike from the right hand side into the top corner, then bagging his second in the 58th minute, leaping to meet a corner at the front post and heading home.

Luka Modric scored a beautiful fourth, when Cristiano Ronaldo’s sensational backheel fed the Croatian on the edge of the box, then finding the bottom right corner in superb style.

Ronaldo added the fifth himself in the 78th minute, slamming home Casemiro’s cross at the back post, and made it two in quick succession with an excellent header.

Nacho capped off a sensational display with his brace, a scrappy goal at the back post as the ball fell for him to swivel and shoot past Ruben Martinez between the Deportivo goal.

Bale the difference again

Just as he was against Celta Vigo two weeks ago, Bale was the key man for Real Madrid, with his attacking play earning a point on that occasion, and helping them to all three in this match.

The Welshman put his side in the lead with arguably the best goal of the match in the first-half, and also provided the third which gave the hosts some assurance, making it six goals in just nine league games for him.

Playing back in a wide right position as opposed to centre-forward, Bale was crucial to Madrid’s success as he consistently demonstrated his ability to create chances in the final third.

His pace and trickery coming in from the right-wing caused havoc for the Deportivo defence, constantly penning them back and creating uncertainty in their minds, as he made the difference for Los Blancos and set them on their way to an important win.

Ronaldo back on track

For Ronaldo, a brace in this match were exactly what he needed, and exactly what Zinedine Zidane and the rest of the team needed as well.

The Portuguese star scored two fine goals, and he may well have had a hat-trick if he was not forced off with a cut to his face in the making of his second goal.

Ronaldo was frustrated for much of this match, as he missed a couple of early chances and perhaps felt that it was going to be another goalless game in La Liga for him.

Ultimately, the five-time Balon D’or winner showed his quality in his brace, and everyone connected with the club will hope that this form will continue. ทางเข้าสโบ

Deportivo languish in the bottom three

Cristobal Parralo’s side have now gone five matches without a victory, losing on four occasions in this time as they struggle to move out of the bottom three.

With Las Palmas winning and Alaves earning a draw in their matches this week, a win for Deportivo would have been crucial, and would have seen them jump Levante into 17th on the table.

The visitors started the match well, and looked as though they could be set for a famous win when Lopez opened the scoring, however, that was where it ended for them.

Deportivo never looked like winning when Real Madrid got going, as they were unable to handle the forward play of the likes of Bale and Ronaldo, and the quality of Modric – who pulled the strings in midfield for Los Blancos.

After their goal, Parralo’s team were unable to create any meaningful chances as they were eventually overpowered by Madrid, and continue to flirt with relegation.

Real back in a big way

After two consecutive scoreless home games, and four goalless matches in their last seven La Liga outings, Madrid needed a big win against the lowly Deportivo in order to relieve the pressing that has been mounting on them in recent weeks.

It was a perfect performance from the hosts, albeit after falling behind, as they defended resolutely, limiting Deportivo’s chances, with Casemiro in particular impressive in screening the back four from his defensive midfield position.

Madrid came into this game with their ‘big three’ of Ronaldo, Bale and Karim Benzema (11 goals combined) having scored less goals than Deportivo’s starting front three of Lopez, Florin And one and Lucas Perez (12 all together).

Los Blancos put to bed all their criticism as they put Deportivo to the sword in a display of quality and ruthlessness in front of goal.

The seven goal haul could prove crucial to their season, and fans will be hoping it can kick start a consistent run of results as Real look to solidify a spot in the top four.
